We started the month in Venice, because it was our 1st Anniversary. Venice is always a good idea. I'm not feeling particularly clever tonight, so I'm going to dispense with the explanation and move right onto the photographic evidence.
Annnnnd, picture dump:

We did all the fun Venice things.

We browsed around in mask shops.

We dodged pigeons outside St. Mark's Basilica.

We ate a small amount of gelato. (Lie.)

We stayed in our favorite Venetian hotel: Albergo Quattro Fontane. They were even kind enough to plant my favorite flowers out front.

We saw artwork. (Kudos to Venice for winning the coolest mascot award. A winged lion? Tough to beat.)

We ate pasta, calzones, and pizza. And I was zero percent sad about it.

We watched the Festival of San Marco's gondola races from a bridge over the Grand Canal.

We walked, and walked, and walked, and when we got tired, we'd go for a boat ride. We saw a glass-blowing demonstration on Murano, watched the sun go down on Lido, wandered into a dozen incredibly impressive cathedrals, and found the best gelato in the city (Suso, with Grom coming in a very respectable 2nd... if you need directions, we're happy to oblige.)
On our way back to catch our flight in Milan, we stayed the night in Verona.

And yes, we even paid our respects to Juliet Capulet. Though, if you ask me, getting fresh with a statue is an odd way to pay one's respects...
So, yeah, not bad for a first anniversary. I wonder what we're going to do next year. :)
